"Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.– Moshe Feldenkrais"
HANNA SOMATICS CLASSESBased on the tradition of Thomas Hanna and Hanna Somatic Education. Whether you have a specific issue or just want to be more embodied, these classes will change the way you feel in your body!
Somatic Movement classes teach you to notice how your body moves and then teach you how to re-train any areas that need attention. There aren't any poses to hold in a Somatic Movement class. You'll be MOVING your body in a way that is unique to you! You will be encouraged to use less effort then what you are likely used to and the slower & smaller you make your movements the better chance you will have at noticing results!! There is no stretching in a Somatic Movement class. Instead, we "pandiculate" and wake up the the motor cortex area of the brain. You'll learn how to strengthen the neuropathways between your muscles and your brain and begin to undo any chronic muscle tightness or pain that you are experiencing. Your body will feel softer and more relaxed. By re-training your body and re-patterning your unconscious (habitual) movement patterns you will learn to move in a more fluid and natural way. (If any movement results in pain, discomfort or lacks in ease, this is what requires re-patterning). These precise, but simple movements are designed to “reboot” your brain-to-muscle communication so your body can relax persistent muscular tightness, restore functional movement and recover your movement potential. If this sounds like the type of class you've been waiting for please contact me, I'd love to introduce you to a movement class that will change how you live in your body!!

Read moreYoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as Non Sleep Deep Rest protocol or “NSDR”. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice allows you to draw your attention inwards, as you learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where your body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) .The breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and you fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness. Yoga Nidra takes us effortlessly into a state of harmonious, restful being. From here, we can be healed, restored and awakened to our deepest, all-knowing, all-welcoming self. It’s a sublime practice, gaining popularity around the world over, and ongoing research continues to prove its effectiveness.
